This special and rare example of an unworn and so-called "new old stock or NOS" Zenith Daytona is really hard to find and comes straight from a collector's safe, where it has probably spent most of its time since being sold by a local Rolex dealer in Germany in 1999.
The Rolex Daytona Patrizzi refers to a specific version or iteration of the iconic Rolex Daytona watch. The "Patrizzi" designation is named after Osvaldo Patrizzi, an Italian watch expert who first noticed a discoloration problem with the dials of some Rolex Daytona models. On certain Rolex Daytona watches produced between 1988 and 2000, particularly the black dials of reference 16520, the subdials were originally silver colored. Due to a chemical reaction, some of these silver dials turned into a chocolate or caramel brown shade over time. This discoloration was not the same on all watches of the same reference number, making the watches with the brown dials very rare and highly sought after by collectors. Rolex collectors value Patrizzi dial Daytona watches for their rarity and the distinctive aesthetic they acquire over time. These watches can fetch top prices on the vintage watch market.
