This one here is a Rolex Daytona "Patrizzi": the interesting thing about this watch is the Patrizzi dial. Only a few black Daytona dials of the 5 digit references show a transformation into shades of brown or even dark brown over time. This can be noticed on the silver outer tracks of the iconic sub-dials. This happens because an organic varnish was used to protect the face of this watch. Undetected by Rolex’s quality management at that time, the varnish did not cover the dial amply enough and the outer tracks started to oxidize. Osvaldo Patrizzi was the first person, who ever recognized this production mistake and, ever since, the watch has been known in the vintage watch world as the Rolex Daytona with the so-called "Patrizzi Dials".
